"We need a standartised solution for updates"

TECHNOLOGY: More and more Security Problems on Computers.

Regular software updates can protect computer users against security problems and risks arising from the worldwide interconnection between computers of all kinds. A study by Danish security specialist Secunia shows astonishing results: In 2009, an average PC had more than 400 (!) security vulnerabilities - a number which almost doubled in just two years.

The products of the frequently berated software giant Microsoft are better than they are made out to be; Microsoft's automated update-procedure seems to be exemplary. Security updates on many other software programs demand for an active contribution by the users. "A standardised update mechanism for all programs on a PC is what we need," the specialists from Secunia say.
