Booked out! 14,200 are running the Engadin Ski Marathon 2020

The 14,200 starting places for the 52nd Engadin Ski Marathon are fully booked. For the third time in a row, the organization had to close the registration early — earlier than ever before. There are still free starting places for the Engadin Women's Run and the Engadin Night Run.

The participants in the Engadin Ski Marathon on March 8 have already broken a record: Switzerland's biggest cross-country skiing event has never been sold out so early. 58 days before the race, the number of free starting places went to zero and the registration of participants had to be stopped.

“The growing demand for our runs year after year makes us and our more than 1200 volunteers very proud,” says Menduri Kasper, CEO of the Engadin Ski Marathon. “The participants appreciate the organization, which is completely tailored to their needs, and the unique running experience in the Upper Engadin landscape. Each of the three rounds of the Engadin Marathon Week has its own special atmosphere.”

Anyone who has not yet signed up for the classic “Engadin” from Maloja to S-chanf will therefore have to wait until 2021. Things are looking better at the Engadin Women's Run: The second-largest cross-country skiing event in Switzerland after the “Engadin” is also on record course for registrations, but there should be no premature shortage of starting places.

The women's run runs 17 kilometers from Samedan to S-chanf and is held one week before the Engadin ski marathon. On Thursday evening during the marathon week, the Engadin night run established itself as another highlight: With headlamps, participants walk 17 kilometers on the original Engadin ski marathon trail from Sils across the Engadin Lakes, St. Moritz and the Stazerwald to Pontresina.

Marathon week with new marathon village in Pontresina

The 2020 marathon week starts on Sunday, March 1 with the 21st Engadin women's run over 17 kilometers from Samedan to S-chanf. On Thursday, March 5, the 4th Engadin night run from Sils to Pontresina will also run over 17 kilometers. The highlight will then be the 52nd Engadin Ski Marathon on Sunday, March 8, 2020.

The Marathon Village is now taking place in Pontresina this year and invites all cross-country skiing enthusiasts to visit from Thursday, March 5 to Saturday, March 7, 2020.
