According to the new Google TV information page At launch in the USA, the service will offer apps for services such as Netflix, Twitter, Pandora, NBA Game Time, Amazon Video on Demand or Gallery. It is still unclear which apps will run when launched in Europe. From 2011, however, apps from the Android Market should work on Google TV.

In addition to apps, Google TV also supports access to all Internet content, including pages that use Flash. Content found while surfing the web while surfing the web should also be very easy to download from a mobile device to the television.

“The last screen is free!” , Google also announces cocky. However, content from the world of Apple's iTunes cannot be consumed via Google TV. Apple shouldn't be interested in this either, as it offers the competing product Apple TV on.

Google TV requires a set-top box or decoder built into the TV. “Autumn” is given as the start time for the USA, but it seems unclear when the system will start in Europe.

However, Google TV will certainly give a further boost to the convergence, the merging of different media channels and devices and their respective content. Systems like Google TV “marry” web and TV. They will continue to and sustainably change the user habits of media consumers.

Convergence doesn't stop at the remote control either: Google TV can be remotely controlled using Android handhelds or even the iPhone.
