gartmann.biz and commercial advertising play Snow Polo in St. Moritz

The new sponsorship of the St. Moritz Snow Polo World Cup relies on local know-how: Christian Gartmann is now responsible for communication and media relations for “the original” of all winter polo tournaments; Spot Werbung from St. Moritz has been commissioned as communication agency.

“Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz” is the name of the traditional St. Moritz Winter Polo Tournament from 2015. Behind the new name is also a new sponsorship. Following the withdrawal of the previous organizers, the newly founded Evviva Polo St. Moritz AG has assumed responsibility for the tournament. It is now being carried out again by the former initiators of polo on snow: Reto Gaudenzi and his team.

Gaudenzi is relying on local communications experts to relaunch the St. Moritz tournament: Christian Gartmann is responsible for communication and media relations for the tournament. The new corporate design and all online and offline means of communication come from the St. Moritz full-service agency Spot Werbung.

“Spot Werbung and Christian Gartmann not only give the Snow Polo World Cup a professional appearance, they also know the Engadin and the Engadin people very well,” explains organizer Reto Gaudenzi. “Like all events, St. Moritz Snow Polo depends on the fact that it is accepted and supported by the locals. In addition to know-how and experience, we have therefore also consciously paid attention to our roots in the Engadin.”

In the run-up to the tournament, a whole range of communication tools will be gradually rebuilt in several languages. On the tournament weekend, media professionals from all parts of the world are expected in St. Moritz or provided with text, images and TV productions directly from St. Moritz. Under the direction of Christian Gartmann, the tournament will employ specialist journalists, photographers and its own TV production.

In addition to the tournament website, Spot Werbung sets up and manages several channels on social networks such as Facebook and Instagram. The St. Moritz full-service agency is also developing the tournament's new, modern corporate design and is already working on the implementation of all online and offline means of communication. The central element will be a website that is also optimized for mobile devices. An attractive program booklet will round off the communication measures on site.

Winter polo for over 30 years

Polo on snow was invented in St. Moritz: A few enthusiasts organized the first winter polo tournament in 1985 under the leadership of Reto Gaudenzi. Initially ridiculed by some, the Polo World Cup soon became an integral and important part of St. Moritz's winter program. Although other winter sports resorts have adopted the idea, the St. Moritz tournament is still considered “the original” worldwide.

It is not self-evident that the last weekend in January in St. Moritz is so closely linked to polo sports: For over 30 years, sponsors, sponsors, municipalities, tourism organizations and, last but not least, countless volunteers have ensured that the polo tournament could be financed and held every year.

At the beginning of 2014, however, the original was on the brink: The previous organizers threw in the towel and it was not clear whether another tournament could take place in 2015. Reto Gaudenzi, who today organizes polo tournaments worldwide and founded Evviva Polo St. Moritz AG for the St. Moritz tournament together with other polo friends, jumped into the breach: “The uncertainty about the future of this top sporting and social event in St. Moritz has left us alone. Polo fans from all over the world have encouraged us to take over the St. Moritz tournament again and lead it into a secure future.”
