Klinik Gut makes an important contribution to decentralized medical care in the canton of Graubünden. During a visit to Klinik Gut St. Moritz, Councillor Dr. Christian Rathgeb underlined the importance of cooperation between Graubünden regional hospitals and the only private acute care hospital in south-eastern Switzerland.

“Regional medical care is a decisive location factor for locals and guests in our canton,” said Bündner Health Director Dr. Christian Rathgeb to the media in St. Moritz on Wednesday. He had previously visited Klinik Gut St. Moritz and had extensive discussions with employees, hospital management and partner doctors. “The new building of the Gut Fläsch Clinic and the project for a new Gut St. Moritz clinic are proof of the company's strong commitment to continue supporting regional healthcare in Graubünden in the future. I am delighted that Klinik Gut Fläsch is off to a very good start.”
CEO Anke Senne summarized the first year of operation of Klinik Gut Fläsch, which opened in 2017:1,154 inpatient procedures had already been performed in the first twelve months. That is a third more than in the previous year in the former Gut Chur Clinic. Klinik Gut has carried out rigorous quality control for years. In the care and hotel sector, Klinik Gut has achieved a leading position throughout Switzerland.
More and more operations are being performed on an outpatient basis for cost reasons, explained Dr. med. Adrian Urfer, delegate of the Board of Directors. Although this is to be welcomed against the backdrop of rising healthcare costs, it also poses major challenges for clinics, because under the current remuneration guidelines, important interventions for clinics would be loss-making.
Health tourism in Graubünden
In addition to caring for locals and holiday guests, clinics and hotels in Grisons have the opportunity to create a new foothold in health tourism, underlined Dr. Christian Rathgeb. “The modern Gut Fläsch clinic is an example of how it is possible to bring patients from outside the canton to Graubünden.”
Rathgeb praised Klinik Gut's commitment to health tourism. He hoped that the “Serletta Süd” project for a new hospital building with health hotel in St. Moritz could be implemented. “Our new building project in St. Moritz is still in court at the moment, but we are determined to implement it. It is a very important project for our company, Engadin and Grisons,” summarized Dr. med. Adrian Urfer.
The legal marathon against hospital opponents is annoying because it costs money and time. The opponents did not even respond to multiple offers to negotiate the size and design of the project. “We are fighting in court instead of further developing the town and its tourism and welcoming new guests to our village and hotels together.”
