InnHub La Punt receives building permit

The InnHub La Punt can be built. The municipality of La Punt Chamues-ch granted the campus building permit for co-creation, innovation and transformation on Monday. Construction on the building, designed by Lord Norman Foster, is scheduled to begin in early summer 2024 — the opening is planned for 2027.

A campus for joint creation, innovation and transformation is being built in La Punt Chamues-ch. With the building permit, the municipality has given the green light for InnHub La Punt. The initiators want to create a location for innovation that should shine far beyond the Engadin.

For the municipality of La Punt Chamues-ch, the InnHub is an important milestone in its development. The InnHub La Punt will offer workshop and teaching rooms, workplaces, an auditorium, sports training infrastructure, a spa, gastronomic offerings and retail space, hotel rooms and rental apartments on a total area of 7,330 square meters. The campus brings additional added value to Engadin and creates additional year-round jobs.

The two-storey building has roughly the size of a soccer field and was designed by world-famous architect Lord Norman Foster, who lives in Engadin. The investment volume amounts to around 90 million francs. As a result of local procurement of building materials and locally awarded contracts, a large proportion of them will remain in the region.

Sustainability as a central concern

The building is a modern timber structure, the construction of which only wood from regional forests and regional processing is used. Energy generation from sunlight and a state-of-the-art heating system with heat pumps make operation particularly environmentally friendly.

The projects being developed in InnHub are also intended to promote sustainability in all its dimensions: “InnHub should create solutions for the future. This is where companies, researchers, athletes, locals and guests will come together and develop ideas that help us all move forward,” says co-initiator Caspar Copetti.

“We would like to thank the population and the community for the great support we have already received in the development and planning of this novel project. We are very pleased that construction can now begin!” The sustainability and long-term orientation of InnHub are also important to the municipality of La Punt Chamues-ch, says municipal secretary Urs Niederegger: “The InnHub La Punt is a very important milestone in the development of La Punt Chamues-ch. It will be a beacon for our community and for the entire region. We would like to thank the investors and everyone involved for their commitment and for their full commitment to the major project and to our beautiful community.”

Opening at the end of 2027

Following the building permit, detailed planning and preparatory work will now continue. Construction on InnHub La Punt will begin in early summer 2024, and the opening of the campus is planned for 2027. Until then, the InnHub PopUp in La Punt, launched as a co-working space by MiaEngiaDina in December 2020, welcomes holidaymakers and employees from various companies who want to work from the Engadin and appreciate the variety of sport, nature and peace to work.
