The infrastructure for the St. Moritz Snow Polo World Cup has been set up since Monday. By January 28, 3,500 square meters of tents and stands for 1,100 spectators will be built on the frozen lake. The VIP arrangements are once again in high demand and media interest from all parts of the world is even greater than in the previous year.

“The ice layer on Lake St. Moritz is growing magnificently!” , says Snow Polo World Cup founder and CEO Reto Gaudenzi. “The ice quality is also very good, so we were able to start building the infrastructure on Monday.”
Low temperatures and not too much snow so far have promoted the growth of ice: The ice layer is now around 30 centimeters thick and continues to grow daily.
Over the next three weeks, the community-owned See-Infra AG will not only prepare the 20,000 square meter polo field, it will also build over 3,500 square meters of tent structures, stands for almost 1,100 spectators, around a dozen towers and platforms, and all barriers.
In addition, there are the technical equipment and interior equipment required for a Snow Polo tournament with over 12,000 spectators, restaurants, VIP areas and a media center. After the Snow Polo World Cup, as much of the infrastructure as possible will be reused on the three White Turf and Night Turf race weekends.
Global interest even in advance underlines the importance of this only high-goal polo tournament on snow: Journalists, photographers and camera teams from leading sports, people and lifestyle media from all continents are expected to attend the tournament. For the first time, the American Internet station Chukker.tv is webcasting all games live on the Internet.
The VIP arrangements for the tournament and for the gala on Saturday evening, hosted by local TV woman Annina Campell, are even more popular than in the previous year. As always, access to the polo area on Lake St. Moritz is free, including seating stands.
