Jürg practices Bündner dialect

“Hello dear Unterländer”, the private viral campaign for Grisons, congratulates Jürg Schmid on his election as President of Grisons Vacations with a new film. “Der Jürg üabt” is the name of the clip in which a new colleague from Gian and Giachen takes lessons in the Bündner dialect. The private initiative “Hello dear Unterländer” was launched two years ago and has generated more than 5.5 million advertising contacts for Grisons with 40 films so far.

“Hello dear Unterländer” greets Jürg Schmid in Grisons

The election of Jürg Schmid as President of Grisons Vacations is a reason for “Hello dear Unterländer” to celebrate: “The Unterländer love Grisons and Grisons loves the Unterländer. Now the most beautiful canton in the world has even made an Unterländer its top tourism expert,” says Christian Gartmann, initiator of the series 'Hello dear Unterländer'.

“Two years after the start of our initiative, Jürg Schmid has adopted our motto “S'sisch viel schöner bi üs!” obviously taken to heart and will now be in Grisons even more often. We are delighted and warmly welcome him to Graubünden — with a wink, of course.”

Ten years after the first Capricorn spot for Grisons

For once, the successful Grisons campaign with Capricorns serves as a template for a “Hello dear Unterländer” film. The commercial “The Most Beautiful Area in the World” was the first of the popular films in 2007. It shows a capital buck who raves about Grisons in Rhaeto-Romanic. A young Capricorn translates it into German.

Shortly after its publication, the film was re-set to music by unknown voices: The young Capricorn now comes from Zurich and is trying to learn Bündner dialect from his older consort. This unofficial reversion became a classic in itself - it reached even more viewers than the original.

“Jürg Üabt” resumes the funny dialogue ten years later: The young Capricorn is now called “Juerg” and is practicing diligently for his language test in Bündnerdeutsch. “With his election as GRF President, Jürg Schmid is developing from Unterländer to Bündner,” says Christian Gartmann.

“Graubünden likes to laugh — even at themselves. Gian and Giachen are the best proof of this. They are two true Graubünden people: likeable, cheeky and not always as clever as they think.”

The new film “Der Jürg üabt” is the 40th clip of the private initiative “Hello dear Unterländer”, which repeatedly spotlights Grisons as the most beautiful canton in the world - and is therefore very well received by the Unterländer. The films have already been viewed more than 1.85 million times on Facebook and YouTube, and the campaign generated over 5.5 million advertising contacts.

“Unterländer are our most important group of guests,” says Christian Gartmann about his initiative. “Hello dear Unterländer, it is my initiative to get them excited about our canton again and again.”
