The first mountain destination of Savognin is being built in the Grisons mountain destination of Savognin Jufa Hotel of Switzerland. The Austrian hotel company is the European market leader in family and group tourism and already operates over 60 hotels in four European countries. A four-star hotel with 75 rooms and around 200 beds is now being added in Savognin. The project was developed locally and is being built using modular timber construction. The JUFA Hotel is expected to generate 30,000 to 35,000 overnight stays in Savognin annually.

It is planned to integrate existing culinary and tourist services into the offer. “Promoting regional value creation is an essential part of our corporate strategy,” Gerhard Wendl, who founded JUFA Hotels 28 years ago and still manages them as director today, told the media in Savognin. “The region and the people living here should benefit from our new hotel.

With our projects, we always seek a symbiosis between tourism benefits, regional added value and improving the quality of life in the project region.”

The Balzers (Liechtenstein) based in Balzers (Liechtenstein) is joining as project developer and investor ITW group of companies on. “Following the failure of our joint project in Wildhaus in the canton of St. Gallen, we have now found a very good project with JUFA in Savognin to continue our investments in tourism,” said Dr. Martin Meyer, CEO of the ITW Group of Companies. With the mineral spa in St. Margrethen (SG) and the project for a health hotel and clinic in St. Moritz (GR), ITW is already heavily involved in tourism in Switzerland.

JUFA Hotels and looking forward to Switzerland

The JUFA hotel in Savognin is built from wooden modules. The “Quadrin” modular system was developed by local timber construction company Uffer AG and has already been successfully built as a hotel or as a student residence. The modules are manufactured in-house from local wood in the Uffer factory in Savognin. “The professional cooperation with ITW and Uffer AG strengthens our conviction that we can implement our concept sustainably and successfully here,” said JUFA managing director Gerhard Wendl.

“We believe that we have found the perfect location for our first JUFA hotel on Swiss soil here in the canton of Grisons and in Savognin as a well-known winter sports location on the connection across the Julier Pass to Italy and with the charm of multilingualism, and we are pleased that our successful family hotel concept is now also taking root in Switzerland. We already have many guests from Switzerland who are vacationing at our hotels. From summer 2021, in addition to the numerous foreign guests, the Swiss will finally have the opportunity to enjoy their holidays in a JUFA hotel in their own country.”
