The world-famous Italian soccer club AS Roma has started a medical partnership with Klinik Gut. The Bündner Special Clinic for Orthopedics will advise the club's medical team on the treatment and prevention of injuries and treat players. Other patients at Klinik Gut will also benefit from the new partnership.

A team of sports doctors and orthopedists from Klinik Gut led by Dr. med. Georg Ahlbäumer is now advising AS Roma, Champions League semi-finalist from 2018 and current fourth in the Italian Serie A. Klinik Gut and the association's medical staff will share the latest findings and case studies for injury prevention and rehabilitation after injuries as well as new procedures related to caring for top athletes.
The top club expects this to significantly improve and refine the prevention and treatment of player injuries. “We are delighted that we can count on the support of an organization that has been a leader in the treatment and rehabilitation of injured athletes for years,” said Tiago Pinto, General Manager Football of AS Roma.
“Being able to rely on an organization such as Klinik Gut, which is at the forefront of its field of expertise, is a significant added value for our medical staff in the club.”
“Sport has been our passion for more than 90 years and caring for top athletes is one of our core competencies,” says Chief Physician Dr. Georg Ahlbäumer, who personally supervises the partnership with AS Roma. The specialist in orthopedic surgery and traumatology has been working with top international athletes from a wide range of sports for many years. “We are very proud that AS Roma will rely on our experience in the future.”
In addition to medical clarifications and tests, Klinik Gut will advise the players and medical staff of the Red Yellow in particular on preventing and optimally supporting the healing process following injuries.
Caring for competitive athletes and top athletes is one of Klinik Gut's areas of expertise. Sports doctors, orthopedists and therapists have been working with athletes from summer and winter sports for years. This included world champions and Olympic champions time and again. Even top soccer players rely on Klinik Gut's expertise time and again.
“Both athletes and all other patients benefit from our experience in top-class sport,” says Dr. Ahlbäumer. “Players from a professional club or triathletes enjoy the latest medical findings just as much as our patients from Grisons, Switzerland and all over the world.”
