Lea Fischer wins Engadin Women's Run

Davos Lea Fischer wins the 24th Engadin Women's Run. She prevails in the sprint against Zernezer Giuliana Werro. Carla Wohler, winner from 2023, was third.

Giuliana Werro had been considered the biggest favorite of the 24th Engadin Women's Run in advance. The Zernezer, who won the Engadin Ski Marathon in 2023, did a lot of leadership work in a small group with Davos Lea Fischer. After the rough climb at Zuoz, the two managed to shake off Carla and Gianna Wohler.

Werro then tried everything he could to get rid of Lea Fischer as well. Fischer stuck to it though and won the sprint in S-chanf with 8 tenths of a second. Scuoler Carla Wohler, who won the Engadin Women's Run in record time two years ago, finished third, a good 15 seconds behind.

In the second sprint of the day, she prevailed against her twin sister Gianna. Seraina Boner from Davos finished fifth.

Winner Lea Fischer took part in the Engadin Women's Run for the first time. The duel against Giuliana Werro had demanded a lot from her, she said at the finish line. “Giuliana almost succeeded in hanging me out after Zuoz.”

Giuliana Werro was very satisfied with her performance despite the defeat in the final sprint. “I felt powerless all week and was happy to even be able to start. After this race, I'm now looking forward to the Engadin Ski Marathon in a week!”

The 24th Engadin Women's Run took place under steel-blue skies and in the best snow conditions. 1,198 women had registered, more than ever since the pandemic.

The Engadin Marathon Week is the biggest cross-country skiing festival in the Alps. It will continue on Thursday evening with the Engadin Night Run (17 km from Sils to Pontresina). The Engadin Ski Marathon and Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, March 9.
