Dario Cologna is the most successful cross-country skier that Switzerland has produced. After 20 years as a professional, he ran his last international race on March 13 with the 52nd Engadin Ski Marathon. The night before, he spoke to Christian Gartmann in a detailed interview about his career, his life as a family man, his retirement and the future of cross-country skiing.

Solved and open as rarely, the 36-year-old Münstertaler talks about his 20 years in professional sports, about injuries, preparation for his retirement and respect for falling into a hole after the end of his professional career. Dario's little son, youth sports promotion in Switzerland, the ever-increasing role of technology and chemistry in ski preparation and new competition formats in cross-country skiing are also topics of diverse conversation in one of the sunny verandas of Hotel Saratz in Pontresina.
