Serletta Süd can be built

The “Serletta Süd” project for a clinic and a hotel in St. Moritz can be realized. The Federal Supreme Court dismissed the appeals filed by residents against the partial revision of the local planning in full. The hospital building is now to be built first.

Almost six years after the referendum, the Federal Supreme Court removed the last obstacles from the way to implementing the Serletta Süd project in St. Moritz. The complaints from two neighboring luxury hotels and three residents against the revision of the local planning were all dismissed. The municipality of St. Moritz can now continue to process the building application that has already been submitted for hospital construction.

Although there are numerous objections to the building application, project owner Chris Silber St. Moritz AG is confident that they can be resolved: “In order to prolong the court proceedings, the hotel and clinic opponents have pulled out all the stops thematically,” says Martin Meyer from Chris Silber St. Moritz AG. “Following the Federal Court's ruling, there are now no longer any factual arguments that would speak against a building permit. We are therefore confident that the objections will be dealt with quickly and that construction of the hospital building can begin soon.”

The hospital building must be built first, as it will house the Swisscom telephone exchange, which is now located in the old post office building. Only after this move can the post office building be demolished and the hotel built.

There are numerous interested parties for the hotel, as Martin Meyer explains: “Renowned hotel chains from several countries have expressed interest in the project. We will now flesh out the talks.” The plans for a health hotel are also not off the table, says Meyer. Contact with the internationally active Lanserhof Group remains close.

“A health hotel would be the best thing that could happen to St. Moritz,” underlines Dr. Adi Urfer from Klinik Gut, which had supported the project from the start. Although the new Klinik Gut is now being built in the spa area in St. Moritz-Bad, cooperation with a health hotel is still possible. “The verdict may be too late for our original plans, but the plan of opponents of clinics and hotels to prevent the entire project has not worked out. The procedural marathon took an infinite amount of time and nerves and caused massive damage to St. Moritz's reputation,” Urfer is convinced.
