Representatives from sports and tourism have founded the “Home of Triathlon St. Moritz Engadin” association. The first goal is to get more triathletes and other multi-sport athletes to train in the Upper Engadin. From the outset, the initiative has coordinated the needs and opportunities of both sport and tourism.

Innovation through collaboration
St. Moritz is to become an international training center for triathlon. Tailored offers for various performance classes should bring athletes from all continents to Engadin at all seasons.
Individual athletes and teams are offered a range of training courses in the three sports and stays in hotels and apartments. All offers are specifically tailored to the needs of triathletes and are also open to locals and young athletes. The details will be published in the coming weeks.
The founders of the association include hoteliers, providers of training and sports infrastructure, Engadin sports supporters and tourism professionals. Christian Gartmann is also a founding member of the association and is involved as a board member.
“If St. Moritz wants to develop further, it is best done in cooperation with various interest groups. Home of Triathlon St. Moritz Engadin is a promising example of innovation through cooperation.”
Engagement of Olympic Champion Nicola Spirig
The most prominent founding member of the club is the reigning Olympic triathlon champion Nicola Spirig, the triathlon organizer Reto Hug is the club's first president.
“Athletes are at the center of all our efforts,” summarizes Reto Hug. The former world-class triathlete and his wife Nicola Spirig have spent a lot of time training in Engadin since the opening of the Ovaverva sports center in 2014 and have also come to know and appreciate the many running and cycling routes.
“Together with hoteliers, Gemeinde, Gut Training, Suvretta Sports and Klinik Gut, we have optimised the offer for training groups and will hopefully be able to bring as many top and popular athletes as possible to Engadin.”
In addition to training, there is also a competition weekend this summer: On August 8 and 9, the Nicola Spirig Kids Cup for five to fourteen year olds and the St. Moritz People's Triathlon across the sprint track will take place.
- Nicola Spirig Kids Cup: for five to fourteen year olds
- St. Moritz People's Triathlon: Sprint track with 500 m swimming, 20 km bike and 5 km run
“I want to encourage as many children as possible to exercise and show them the joy of exercise,” says Nicola Spirig about her commitment to young talent in Engadin.
