St. Moritz 2030: And the neighbors?

St. Moritz is planning for the coming decades: By revising the local planning, the municipality is laying the foundation for its spatial and structural future. The population, associations, companies and regional neighbors are invited to contribute their needs and ideas for the St. Moritz of the future. On Wednesday, April 4, there will be a village discussion on the regional significance of St. Moritz's future local planning.

For once, the village talk is taking place in the bathroom: On Wednesday, April 4, St. Moritz, Engadines and guests from outside will meet at Hotel Reine Victoria to discuss the St. Moritz of tomorrow. What significance should St. Moritz have for the region in the future? Which regional functions should be located in St. Moritz and how does this affect local planning? Tourism, culture, sports, education and transport are just a few of the topics that connect St. Moritz's local planning with the region. On the village talk “St. Moritz 2030: And the neighbors?” Neighbors from the region are explicitly invited.

Community presidents, cultural workers, politicians and entrepreneurs should contribute their ideas and requirements to the St. Moritz of the future. Among the guests are Christian Meuli and Jon Fadri Huder (community presidents Sils and Samedan), Andrea Gilli (Lower Engadine regional developer and future community president Zuoz), Giovanni Netzer (initiator Origen Festival), Renato Fasciati (director RhB), Gerhard Walter (CEO Engadin St. Moritz Tourismus AG), Urs Pfister (President of the Engadin Ski Marathon), Thomas Walther (ier Pontresina, President White Turf) and the members of the St. Moritz Planning Commission.

“St. Moritz is not a “capsule” that carries out its long-term planning in isolation from its environment. Like every town, St. Moritz has close ties to the region with its neighboring communities, the valley and the canton,” says Christian Gartmann, who will in turn lead this special village talk. “In addition to experts from politics, business, sports and culture, residents should also participate in the discussion and contribute their wishes to St. Moritz of the future.”

Under the title “St. Moritz 2030”, the municipality of St. Moritz is carrying out a vision and strategy process with the population and interested parties. He should collect ideas and needs, which will then be incorporated into future local planning. The process is supported by the consulting firm IC Infraconsult (Bern) and includes numerous workshops and discussions as well as two St. Moritz village talks. The final report on the process will be published in spring 2019. The my.stmoritz.ch website provides information about the process and also provides the opportunity to submit ideas for future local planning and to evaluate them online.
