For many Engadines, the women's triathlon is a kind of highlight of the Rio Olympics: Nicola Spirig, who has lived and trained mostly in Champfèr with her family since 2013, is defending her title. In recent months, she has also prepared for the Rio games in Engadin. Yet she did not miss the opportunity to personally look after children and young people at the Kids Cup at the St. Moritz Triathlon ten days ago.
When Nicola Spirig starts in Rio on Saturday afternoon at 16:00 Swiss time, numerous fans and friends of the Wahlengadine will cheer on at the St. Moritz Hotel Reine Victoria. The Home of Triathlon St. Moritz association has organized a public viewing with a barbecue.
From 3 p.m., the TV broadcast will be shown on the big screen. There will also be interviews in the auditorium and live broadcasts to Rio. Whoever guesses Nicola Spirig's intermediate and final ranking in advance can win attractive prizes. There is also a final draw at the end.
The Rio theme is also present on the menu card: The Reine Victoria team serves Brazilian barbecues and drinks at fair prices. Admission is free.
