St. Moritz clearly re-elects Christian Jott Jenny

Christian Jott Jenny remains mayor of St. Moritz. The incumbent was significantly re-elected with 54 percent of the vote. In order to continue the successes of the last three years, St. Moritz now needs a policy that defines new goals in teamwork and takes them into account. The prevention policy of recent years must stop.

“St. Moritz is doing better”: With this simple message, Christian Jott Jenny has managed to be re-elected for a second term as Mayor of St. Moritz. A committee from tourism, trade, industry, culture, politics and society had backed the unconventional community president.

He succeeded in showing the qualities of Jenny's politics. “The successes of the last three and a half years were probably the best argument to trust Christian Jenny again,” summarizes Anita Urfer, former community leader and co-president of the committee for the re-election of Christian Jott Jenny. “St. Moritz got through the pandemic relatively well, has a higher reputation in Switzerland today, and municipal finances allow investments in the future.”

Community Council: Act together and solve tasks together

“Jenny was unable to get the community council behind her. Instead of acting as a team, the executive appeared like a divided bunch over long phases,” criticizes Claudia Aerni, President of the Municipal Council. “This has caused enormous frictional losses and it must stop. Today's election is also a mandate for the old and new municipal leaders to act together and solve the tasks that arise.”

“The vote for Christian Jott Jenny is a vote for a modern management style and a modern community. Well-trodden paths can and must be abandoned if St. Moritz is to overcome the challenges of the future,” says Markus Hauser, long-time FDP politician and co-president of the committee. “The upcoming infrastructure projects are very large. They must be discussed openly and transparently, otherwise they have the potential to divide the population.”

“Whatever the outcome of the upcoming elections to the municipal council and the municipal council, St. Moritz needs cooperation again in politics. The population has expressed this by choosing Christian Jott Jenny,” summarizes hotelier president and municipal council Christoph M. Schlatter. “Personal attacks against individuals and prevention policies won't get us anywhere. St. Moritz must make something new possible, for the population, businesses and the community itself.”

After the mayor, St. Moritz elects a further four municipal boards, the municipal council and the audit commission on September 25 and November 6.

Anita Urfer, Claudia Aerni, Markus Hauser and Christoph Schlatter are the four co-presidents of the committee for the re-election of Christian Jott Jenny.
