Since the beginning of December, Klinik Gut has been providing consultations and surgical treatments at the Oberengadin Hospital in Samedan. The cooperation between the two Upper Engadin hospitals is an important step for healthcare in the Upper Engadin.

With their cooperation in the area of orthopedics, Oberengadin Hospital and Klinik Gut are working together to improve the care of patients in the valley. In particular, sub-specialization can be further promoted.
Orthopedists are now also available to patients at the Oberengadin Hospital in several sub-specializations. They are very well trained and experienced and, thanks to their operational activities in St. Moritz, Chur, Thusis, Savognin and now also Samedan, have high case numbers. Together with the modern infrastructure of the Upper Engadine Hospital, this ensures optimum quality of treatment.
The treatments are available to all patients at both locations, regardless of insurance class. In addition to orthopedic consultations in the sub-specializations “lower extremities” (Dr. med. Patrick Baumann) and “upper extremities” (Dr. med. Holger Durchholz), Dr. med. Jürg Pfister will in future carry out his visceral surgical procedures at the Oberengadin Hospital.
Traumatology and trauma surgery will continue to be offered by both hospitals independently of each other. Both the Oberengadin Hospital and Klinik Gut have their own teams of experts for this purpose.
In addition to better medical care for locals and guests, the cooperation also allows better utilization of the existing medical infrastructure of both hospitals. The option to purchase consumer and consumer goods together also contributes to reducing the operating costs of both hospitals and thus also relieves the burden on the healthcare sector and taxpayers.
“With Klinik Gut, we have found a local partner whose expertise allows us to guarantee and expand a comprehensive, high-quality orthopedic offering in our excellent infrastructure over the long term,” says Heinz Schneider, CEO of the Upper Engadine Hospital. “Orthopedics are an important part of our wide range of services for locals and guests of the Upper Engadin.”
“The Upper Engadin is too small as a catchment area for two competing orthopedists. Together with the Oberengadin Hospital, we were able to develop an overall concept that serves all patients in the valley,” says Dr. med. Adrian Urfer, CEO of Klinik Gut.
