The people of St. Moritz have every reason to be happy. They live in a mountain valley that is one of the most beautiful in the world. “Allegra!” is an ancient greeting from the Rhaeto-Romanic language that the locals call out to each other here. Translated directly, it doesn't mean “hello” or “hello”: Allegra means “Rejoice!”

For over 150 years, guests from all over the world have been coming to St. Moritz to spend sunny winter days in the snow. It was just as long ago that the people of St. Moritz began creating events for their guests. This is how the bobsleigh was invented here, and there were international horse races on the frozen lake as early as the 19th century. St. Moritz has also hosted the Winter Olympics twice.

Sport belongs to St. Moritz like hardly any other top destination. But what makes St. Moritz stand out is the combination of competitions and lifestyle. The frozen lake, the natural ice bobsleigh track or the famous Corviglia are excellent places to eat, drink and sit in the sun. The Snow Polo World Cup is also a successful combination of sport and lifestyle.

St. Moritz is the birthplace of snow polo: in 1985, a tournament on snow was played here for the first time. Since then, world-class polo players from all parts of the world have met on the frozen Lake St. Moritz every year on the last weekend in January and play for the most coveted Snow Polo trophy, the legendary Cartier Trophy.

The “Spirit of Allegra” is also omnipresent here: The St. Moritz Snow Polo World Cup offers top-class polo, fine dining and the best entertainment in the five-star hotels, bars and clubs of this sophisticated town in the Swiss Alps.
