50th Engadin ski marathon booked out

Exactly 50 days before the 50th Engadin Ski Marathon, all starting places have already been taken. 14,200 people have registered for the second-largest cross-country skiing event in the world. The “Engadin” has thus achieved the best reporting result in its history. Starting places are still available for the 19th Engadin Women's Run and the 2nd Engadin Night Run.

For the first time in its history, the Engadin Ski Marathon has sold out all available starting places. “Our most important goal is the high quality and safety of our events. We are therefore unable to accept more than 14,200 registrations for the Engadin Ski Marathon,” explains managing director Menduri Kasper. “The huge interest in the anniversary run makes us all very proud. It is a great compliment to the work done since 1969 and to the Engadin as a unique cross-country skiing area.”

The great interest in the 50th Engadin Ski Marathon was already apparent in summer 2017, which is why the organizers introduced a restriction on participants for the first time in history. The limit of 14,200 participants was reached on January 19, 2018. The registration was then closed.

Women's running and night running are also on record course

The starting places for the other two popular runs as part of the Engadin Marathon Week 2018 are also highly sought after: The 19th Engadin Women's Run on Sunday, March 4, is currently up 17 percent over the previous year, meaning that a new record for female participants is possible. For the second Engadin night run on Thursday, March 8, there are currently almost three times as many registrations as for the premiere in 2017.

The 38th Engadin night sprint will also create a unique atmosphere. In the Marathon Village in the Kurpark in St. Moritz Bad, on Friday evening, March 9, world-class athletes and up-and-coming Graubünden talents will once again sprint for fame, honor and winning rewards.

Behind the scenes as a volunteer

Anyone who missed registration for the 50th Engadin Ski Marathon can also experience the extraordinary atmosphere behind the scenes during the Engadin Marathon week. Due to the high number of participants, further volunteers may well be needed. Volunteers of all ages are welcome.
