Exhibition The Sky Over Nine Columns in St. Moritz extended

The sculpture “The Sky Over Nine Columns” by German artist Heinz Mack is staying in St. Moritz one month longer than originally planned. The nine golden steles will be shown until Easter. The exhibition on the shores of Lake St. Moritz is extremely popular with guests and locals and was received very positively by media all over the world.

After Venice, Istanbul and Valencia, Heinz Mack's nine steles decorated with golden mosaic tiles have been enchanting people in Engadin since December 10. In the mountain landscape and the magical light of the Engadin, his sculpture is “the pure sensuality of seeing,” enthused Heinz Mack at the unveiling of the nine seven and a half meter high steles on Lake St. Moritz.

Since then, not a day has passed without the sculpture being photographed and sent thousands of times all over the world via social networks. Traditional media have also addressed the exhibition. Magazines, blogs and specialist media reported on the exhibition in St. Moritz all over the world.

“When I saw the golden mosaics of the nine steles in Engadin light for the first time at the unveiling, I knew immediately that the installation would also be a big crowd puller in this environment,” says Michael Beck from Beck & Eggeling Fine Art, who is organising the sculpture's tour through Europe.

“Segantini's light and landscape are unique — on fine days, the sculpture literally dissolves into light.” The platform with the nine steles can now remain standing on Lake St. Moritz until next April 17.

“We are very happy that the municipal council of St. Moritz has given us such great support and has approved the extension of the exhibition until after Easter,” says Michael Beck and promises: “Dismantling work will begin after Easter and by the end of April, the meadow by the lake will look the same as before.”

Where the sculpture will travel to St. Moritz is yet to be announced. “We have a few very interesting inquiries and the review is in full swing,” reveals Michael Beck.

The journey of this extraordinary large sculpture to special places in the world is a multi-year art project, which is designed and realized by the Ralph Dommermuth Foundation for Art and Culture in collaboration with Beck & Eggeling International Fine Art.
