The Graubünden government is behind the Serletta Süd project for the construction of a health hotel and a new Gut clinic in St. Moritz. It has approved the partial revision of the local planning. In the explanatory statement, she repeatedly underlines the great importance of the project for health tourism in Grisons and for the destination of St. Moritz.

It took the cantonal government 17 months to decide on the bill adopted by the St. Moritz voters in October 2015 and the submissions of six appeals. The detailed reasons show a thorough review of all aspects. On 60 pages, the government fully supports the indicative project and the procedure carried out, rejects the arguments from the complaints and underlines the overall importance of the project for St. Moritz and the Canton of Grisons.
“We are very pleased with this decision and its careful and clear reasons,” says Dr. Martin Meyer, project manager for owner Chris Silber St. Moritz AG. “The government's statements left no longer behind the objections of opponents. This shows how thin the arguments of opponents of hotels and clinics are in the end.”
In addition to purely legal and procedural issues, the government has also commented on the significance of the project. “The Governing Council repeatedly underlines the importance of health tourism for the canton and our project for the local community of St. Moritz,” says Dr. Adrian Urfer, delegate of the Board of Directors of Klinik Gut AG.
“I can only hope that the decision and its clear reasons will now trigger a thought process among the opponents. Nevertheless, we expect that at least some of the opponents will take legal action.”
“We look forward to our way through the courts very calmly; the objections of the opponents are not sustainable,” says Dr. Martin Meyer, repeating the offer from the project promoters from the voting campaign: “Even after this clear stage victory, we are ready to lend a hand to reach a compromise. The prompt implementation of the health hotel and the new Gut Clinic is in the interest of the entire region. The government has made this clear without any reservation.”
