Construction on the new Hotel Grace St. Moritz began in September. The former Hotel La Margna on Via Serlas is being extensively renovated and expanded with an annex. The historic structure of the hotel is being carefully restored and is being preserved.
Preparatory work has begun for the conversion of the former Hotel La Margna in St. Moritz. From October, the new annex with underground parking, spa area and additional hotel rooms and suites will be excavated. At the same time, work on the total renovation of the existing hotel is beginning. Completely new rooms and suites are being built on the upper floors, and the existing, architecturally valuable public spaces are being carefully restored on the lower floors.
At an orientation event on Friday, residents of the hotel and the public were informed about the upcoming work and the timetable. The client's careful clarifications for the renovation of the valuable historic hotel building resulted in a revised schedule, which includes the completion of the new Grace St. Moritz Hotel in autumn 2019.
The construction project is planned in such a way that immissions and effects on pedestrian and car traffic can be kept to a minimum. However, in order to excavate the parking garage, the important pedestrian connection through Truoch Serlas must be temporarily blocked. However, the escalator connection through the Serletta public car park is a pleasant alternative route for pedestrians to and from St. Moritz train station.
A footbridge will be built during the coming winter season and the World Ski Championships. Any restrictions on the pedestrian connection between village and train station are coordinated and signposted in close consultation with the municipality.
As a luxury boutique hotel, the new Hotel Grace St. Moritz will offer 56 rooms and suites, three restaurants and a spacious spa complex on over 800 square meters. It will be open ten months a year.
