The four teams of the St. Moritz Snow Polo World Cup have already been decided five months before the tournament: Top players from Italy, Ireland, USA and Malaysia have registered their teams for the 33rd battle for the legendary Cartier Trophy at the most important snow polo tournament in the world. Sponsors and VIP guests are also showing even greater interest than in the previous year.
The Snow Polo World Cup 2017 will be a reunion with the stars of previous years: From January 27 to 29, Rommy Gianni from Italy will try to defend his title from the previous year. After her promising appearance in 2016, the American Melissa Ganzi wants to have a say in the awarding of the Cartier Trophy just as much as the Irishman Richard Fagan, who is coming back to St. Moritz after a one-year break. Malaysian Joevy Beh is taking part in St. Moritz for the first time.
In addition to the four team sponsors Badrutt's Palace Hotel, Cartier, Maserati and Perrier-Jouët, Gold Sponsor Deutsche Bank Wealth Management, equipment supplier La Martina, Brioni, Confiserie Sprüngli and Heineken have also resigned, sometimes for several years.
Demand for VIP tickets has also risen again: The arrangements for the tournament and the Snow Polo Night with gala are in demand by companies and private individuals even earlier and noticeably more than in the previous year.
“The response to our tournament from media, players, sponsors and VIP guests is growing every year,” says organizer Reto Gaudenzi. “We have never been able to announce team and gold sponsors, equipment suppliers and team patrons so early before the tournament. The trust of sponsors and players honors us and is a compliment to St. Moritz and the work of the entire organization.”
The St. Moritz Snow Polo World Cup in 1985 was the world's first polo tournament on snow. It is carried out by Evviva Polo St. Moritz AG in close cooperation with an experienced team of local hotels, companies and specialists, the municipality and its See Infra AG.
Evviva Polo St. Moritz was able to extend the contract with the municipality of St. Moritz to host the tournament early until 2022. At the same time, the company's shareholders increased equity and, in addition to successful sponsorship marketing, created a solid financial basis for the sustainable development of the world's most important snow polo tournament.
