One of Engadine's most famous chefs is retiring

Stefano Pini, head chef at Klinik Gut St. Moritz for 41 years, says goodbye to patients and colleagues. The 64-year-old native of Valtellina was bid farewell by more than 100 colleagues on Friday evening together with Aurelia Pedrolini, who retired after 17 years in domestic service. Daniele Del Grosso is the new chef at Klinik Gut St. Moritz.

“Stefano has probably made more visits to patients than all of our doctors combined,” joked Dr. Adrian Urfer as he said goodbye to his long-time chef. In fact, Stefano Pini is very popular with patients at the St. Moritz Accident and Orthopedic Clinic not only because of the good food, but also because of his daily visits. “Contact with our guests was always very important to me,” says Pini. “After an accident or an orthopedic procedure, they should feel at home with us. That way, they get better faster.”

Together with Stefano Pini, Aurelia Pedrolini also said goodbye to the team at Klinik Gut. Born in South Tyrol, she came to Klinik Gut in 2001 and worked in house service. “Without the many helping hands behind the scenes, we would not be able to offer cutting-edge medicine here. Aurelia Pedrolini has become the soul of the house for many and has done great things for us. We would like to thank her and Stefano Pini for a total of 58 years of service to our patients,” praised Dr. Adrian Urfer.

“Hotel with operating room”

Even after Stefano Pini's retirement, the high culinary quality of St. Moritzer Klinik Gut is assured: Daniele Del Grosso (48) has worked in the kitchen at Klinik Gut for eleven years and has now taken over its management. “Our clinic is a kind of hotel with an operating room,” says Del Grosso. “Our guests in Engadin had accidents or came to us with joint and back problems. They are not ill and can therefore really enjoy our good food.”

Patient surveys show that patients at Klinik Gut highly appreciate their outstanding cuisine.
