There is a lack of a uniform update solution

TECHNOLOGY: More and more security breaches on computers.

With regular updates to their software products, computer users can protect themselves against security gaps and thus minimize a wide range of risks that arise from the worldwide networking of computers of all types. A study by Danish security specialist Secunia reveals amazing things: There are over 400 security vulnerabilities on an average PC today, almost twice as many as two years earlier.

The products of the often scolded software giant Microsoft are better than their reputation in terms of security: The automated update procedure from Microsoft is obviously exemplary. Many other programs require the active cooperation of users for a security update. According to Secunia specialists, there is no uniform update mechanism for all programs installed on a PC.

The Neue Zürcher Zeitung reports on “Weaknesses without end”.
