With VIVAL, the festival for health and pleasure, the Upper Engadin is launching a new type of gentle health tourism. Guests and locals can experience a healthy lifestyle without sacrificing enjoyment. Health tourism is an attractive market segment for Engadin.

“Health and pleasure go together in Engadin,” sums up Christian Gartmann, the festival's program manager. “This year, we want to offer something special and at the same time explore how much interest there is among guests, locals and providers in the region. The 2022 festival is our pilot project.”
“We are pleased that numerous hotels and restaurants, but also sports shops and sports and adventure providers are taking part from all over the Upper Engadin,” says hotelier Christoph Schlatter. In addition to providers from the region, the association itself also contributes to the program.
“In our four theme weeks on 'resilience', 'nutrition', 'sport' and 'heart/circulatory system', we offer lectures and workshops on health and enjoyment.”
Pilot project for a new health tourism in Engadin
“With VIVAL, we want to encourage guests and providers in the region to try new things together,” summarizes tourism promoter Richard Dillier. “Health tourism is an interesting market segment for the Engadin and the region already has a very wide range of healthy offerings. VIVAL should make everyone want healthy and life-affirming offers!”
“Living healthily doesn't mean giving up pleasure,” says doctor Dr. Adi Urfer. “Sport, exercise and diet have a direct impact on our health and overall well-being. With VIVAL, we bring together numerous Engadin offerings that support a positive and healthy lifestyle. VIVAL is gentle health prevention.”
Engadin St. Moritz Tourismus AG (ESTM) is also supporting the festival and making all offers bookable online: “VIVAL is an ideal pilot project for new health tourism in Engadin and a testing ground for events of the future,” explains Thomas Rechberger, responsible for digitization from ESTM. “VIVAL is a modern festival, and digitization is, of course, part of it. On the platform www.vival.ch Let's bring the entire offer together. Guests can freely combine their program and book it online.”
VIVAL 2022 will take place from September 2 to October 2, 2022 in Upper Engadin. All offers are now available at www.vival.ch bookable.
The idea for VIVAL was born at the “Health and Tourism” conference, which Christian Gartmann held between 2015 and 2019. He is one of the five initiators of the festival who also finance it.
