The Graubünden 2022 association is delighted that the sports parliament's resounding “yes” to a Graubünden 2022 candidacy. Switzerland's Olympic sports associations clearly supported the candidacy by Swiss Olympic with 76 votes to 0. This allows work on the “White Games” in Engadin and the Davos countryside to continue. Following a referendum in Grisons and discussion by the Federal Council and Federal Councils, the candidacy is to be submitted to the IOC in September 2013.

The sports parliament's “yes” gives Swiss Olympic green light to continue supporting Switzerland's candidacy for the 2022 Winter Olympics. The sports parliamentarians voted clearly in favour of support after being informed by Swiss Olympic President Jörg Schild and Director Gian Gilli about the current status of the feasibility assessments and the sporting aspects of a candidacy. The Graubünden Governing Council Hansjörg Trachsel also swore sports parliamentarians to the project”Graubünden 2022” like Minister of Sports Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer.
“It was not only our sporting concept outline that was convincing,” says Director Gian Gilli, operational manager of the Graubünden candidacy. “The resounding yes from the sports parliament is also a clear commitment to our idea of organising the Winter Olympics, which bring us all something, especially in the long term. Done the right way, the Olympic Games in Switzerland are a project with lasting, positive effects for future generations.”
“Swiss sport has sent a clear message to politicians and the Swiss population,” states Jörg Schild, President of Swiss Olympic and Vice President of the Grisons 2022 association. “We not only showed sports parliamentarians that we can hold games at the highest level, we were also able to convince them that Olympic Games bring major, long-term benefits to all Swiss sport.”
Following the positive decision of the sports parliament, the feasibility analyses are now imminent. The feasibility report will be published at the end of August, when the Graubünden government approves its embassy. The referendum in Grisons is scheduled for March 3, 2013, and the nomination to the IOC is scheduled for September 2013.
The Graubünden Association 2022 is constantly transparently informing the population about the progress of work on the project. On Wednesday, the website for this was www.gr2022.ch updated with all data from the presentation in the Sports Parliament. It is continuously being expanded into a comprehensive information platform.
