Live broadcast of the Engadin Ski Marathon on the Internet

Following the launch of numerous new features in the previous year, the Engadin Ski Marathon 2016 OC is focusing on optimising these changes. Nevertheless, the Engadin Ski Marathon presents a major innovation: The race will be shown live on the Internet.

The start in Maloja, the most important events surrounding the top and the winners' finish, plus the popular pictures from the spectacular downhill run in Stazerwald and the army of enthusiastic runners: From 8:00 to 11:15 a.m., the Engadin Ski Marathon live stream on Sunday offers an attractive mix of top and popular sport at Switzerland's biggest popular run.

The live web stream is free and can be accessed on mobile or stationary devices via the Engadin Ski Marathon website.

In addition to live images of the marathon, the stream also offers reports from the women's run and the night sprint as well as interesting information about the event.

“Video on demand and live broadcasts are very popular on the Internet and reach more viewers every year. The offer is therefore a logical step in the further development of our communication,” explains OC President Ivo Damaso. “With this free offer, we are offering participants, their families and the many fans who cannot be there added value.”

The broadcast is produced by Bündner ON AIR AG under the direction of television producer Reto Janesch.

Attendance records possible

Communication with participants this year places a particular focus on “Fair Play in the Engadine”. Instead of bans and punishments, the OC relies on five cartoons. Drawn by well-known cartoonist Thomas Zipfel, they convey the rules of conduct in a friendly way.

Numerous “Fair Play Engadin” boards with the caricatures were set up on the Upper Engadin trails in advance in order to draw the attention of not only the participants but all athletes to this topic.

18 days before the event, registration figures have leveled off last year, i.e. around 11,900 people. A new record number of participants is therefore not ruled out. Experience has shown that 1,200 to 1,500 additional registrations can still be expected by race Sunday.

With 941 registrations, the Women's Run recorded an increase of 12 percent compared to the previous year. A record number of female participants is also possible here.
