The project for the Grace St. Moritz Hotel is being revised. The core of the changes is the creation of significantly more hotel rooms, all of which will offer lake or panoramic views. As a result of the project changes, the opening is postponed until 2020.
The construction of the Grace St. Moritz Hotel so far has gone according to plan. The work planned until the winter break could be carried out both in the historic Hotel La Margna and on the modern “Grace Wing” west of it. However, marketing the hotel with managed residences has shown that there is higher demand for smaller units than previously assumed. The owners and project managers have therefore decided to interrupt construction and change the project. The core of the changes is an increase in the number of rooms by around a third.
Although this will make the individual rooms smaller, all units will offer either lake or panoramic views. Blarer Reber Architects in Samedan are responsible for revising the project. The details will be published in summer. The Grace St. Moritz Hotel is now scheduled to open in 2020.
Robert Swade, CEO of Grace Hotels, explains: “We thoroughly studied the demand situation and the technical aspects and came to the conclusion that we should take advantage of the opportunity to align the project even better with the market. The reworked project will include more but slightly smaller spaces. We are convinced that this will bring us closer to demand and provide a service to both our guests and the town of St. Moritz.”
