The question of how the Winter Olympics can create a long-term legacy brought around 50 experts from all over Switzerland to Davos over the weekend. As part of Graubünden's NIV Dialogue 2022, they worked on developing concrete projects that can then be promoted through an Olympic candidacy.

Graubünden 2022 is taking a new path: Personalities from all over Switzerland are thinking together about how people will live in the mountains in 30 years, how they will tackle the challenges of climate change for winter sports and tourism, for example, or how young people will be encouraged to exercise while respecting nature.
On the occasion of the Olympic candidacy, working sessions on Sustainability, Innovation and Legacy (NIV) were therefore launched. On Friday and Saturday, experts from tourism, mountain areas, athletics, industry, business associations, Graubünden municipalities and the canton met in Davos and discussed innovative solutions that should improve Switzerland and its population's chances of success in the long term. The results of the dialogue will be deepened in the two sections “Life in the Mountains” and “Youth, Sport and Olympic Values” and translated into concrete projects.
“The mere fact that we can bring so much know-how from all over the country to one place and discuss in such a focused way is a very positive signal for the Swiss candidacy,” says Urs Lacotte, former Director General of the IOC. “The Olympic spirit and Switzerland's opportunity to run for office can free up energy to break new ground. That is the true meaning of our concept.”
The next step is to consolidate the results of the workshops for the attention of the NIV Committee (Sustainability — Innovation — Legacy), which will meet at the end of November, identify the first specific projects and present its topics to the public.
