New clinic Gut Fläsch opens in January

The new Gut Clinic in Fläsch starts operating at the beginning of January. In the most modern orthopedic clinic in Graubünden, a team of specialists and therapists treats residents and guests of the region with musculoskeletal problems. Klinik Gut Fläsch is aimed at patients of all insurance classes. The new building cost around 35 million francs.

In the northernmost municipality of Graubünden, a state-of-the-art specialist clinic for orthopedics has been built over the past two years. It is aimed at patients from the canton of Graubünden, the area up to Lake Constance and Lake Zurich and the Principality of Liechtenstein. With 60 employees, two operating rooms, a day clinic for outpatients, 27 patient beds, digital radiology, therapy and practice rooms and the public restaurant PINOT, the clinic offers everything that patients expect from a modern specialist clinic.

The new Klinik Gut Fläsch replaces the hospital location in Chur, which will in future be run as a practice where patients can receive advice and follow-up treatment. With two clinics in St. Moritz and Fläsch, five practices in Chur, Bad Ragaz, Buchs, Zürich Airport and Ascona, and four partner hospitals in Thusis, Savognin, Samedan and Poschiavo, Klinik Gut offers an entire network of locations to advise and treat patients. “We want to be close to our patients and actively contribute to regional medical care in the canton,” Felix Ammann, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Klinik Gut AG, told the media on Wednesday.

Grisons Regional President and Health Director Dr. Christian Rathgeb also underlined the importance of regional medical care for Grisons. Although Graubünden offers the same quality of medical treatment as in other cantons, more and more patients are being treated outside the canton. It is also in the interest of insured persons themselves to seek treatment in Grisons, as this would strengthen Grisons hospital location and at the same time generate economic benefits for the canton.

He was confident that the new Gut Fläsch clinic would help more Graubünden patients receive treatment.

Best infrastructure — manageable size

The new Gut Fläsch Clinic offers the best possible infrastructure for efficient clinic operations, explained Dr. Adrian Urfer, CEO of Klinik Gut AG. However, their manageable size still allows the personal care that patients at Klinik Gut so appreciated. The new house is a clinic for the region and is aimed at patients of all insurance classes. More than half of the patients at Klinik Gut have general insurance.

Heinz-Urs Kunz, president of Fläsch, warmly welcomed Klinik Gut, its patients and employees. The municipality of Fläsch benefits from the new clinic as a building authority, but also through the creation of around 60 jobs. Kunz praised that the building on the southern edge of the village was a successful addition to the village image. The three-storey, square building with gable roof was designed and built by Bearth & Deplazes Architekten on behalf of the ITW Balzers group of companies. She rents out the building to Klinik Gut.

“Health is a growing market and, together with aging, wellness and leisure, is therefore the most important development segments of our Group,” said ITW Group Chairman Dr. Martin Meyer. The ITW Group is therefore determined to make a strong commitment to the health sector. Thanks to international health tourism, Grisons offers additional development opportunities.

Klinik Gut specializes in the human musculoskeletal system. Specialists for shoulders, elbows, hands, spine, hips, knees, ankles and feet as well as pain and physiotherapists treat complaints arising from illness or consequences of accidents. The sports doctors at Klinik Gut looked after individual athletes and teams from Germany and abroad. In 2015, over 2,300 surgical procedures and around 13,000 outpatient consultations were carried out. The company currently employs around 190 people; the new Fläsch Clinic will create an additional 30 jobs.

A special splash of color in the new Gut Fläsch clinic restaurant is the PINOT public hospital restaurant. Star chef Roland Schmid, host at the Abtestube in Bad Ragaz until a year ago, has put together a wide range of offers at fair prices for patients, visitors and guests from outside the house, which he prepares from fresh regional ingredients. Every Thursday, it invites you to a gourmet evening, in which regional wines also play a special role.

Open house: Saturday, November 26, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The population of the region is invited to visit the new Gut Fläsch Clinic. Specialists, therapists, nurses and restaurateurs will explain the new clinic and its treatments on guided tours. Visitors are asked not to drive to Fläsch as there are no parking spaces there. Shuttle buses run from Bad Ragaz train station and the Pizolbahn car park in Bad Ragaz.
