On November 17, sports activists and decision makers will get an overview of the changes that the new media world is bringing to the sports business. As part of sport.forum.schweiz in Lucerne, ESB European Sponsorship Exchange and medienseminar.com are holding the special seminar “New Media Literacy in Sports Business” for the first time. The seminar is led by Christian Gartmann and is open to anyone interested.
“If you don't want to get lost in the sports business, you have to find your way around the new media world, because the media revolution of the past ten years has also changed the sports business significantly,” says Hans-Willy Brockes from the ESB European Sponsorship Exchange.
For 17 years, he has been organising sport.forum.schweiz, the country's most important industry event. “The new special seminar shows the effects of social media on sport and provides plenty of examples of how to use modern media successfully.”
“New media literacy may have a lot to do with social media, but social media is only part of the media revolution,” adds Christian Gartmann from medienseminar.com, who developed and leads the seminar. “The media audience has changed their behavior significantly; the competition for attention has become huge. Today's managers need to know that traditional channels are also being used differently than they were five years ago.”
The participants of the one-day seminar will gain an overview of the most important trends in social media and beyond: Competition for attention, strategy and rules of conduct in social media, practical treatment of social media users and new reputation management are the main topics of the seminar on November 17 in Lucerne.
Social media will be a big topic the day before: At sport.medien.forum, they will be a focus. Experts from internationally renowned Swiss companies and associations will report on their experiences with social networks and show how they are adapting themselves and their athletes to the new media world.
