New statutes and new leadership for the Engadin Ski Marathon

The Engadin Ski Marathon Association has a new leadership: At an extraordinary association meeting, the members enacted revised statutes and elected a new board of directors. The new president of the Engadin Ski Marathon is Urs Pfister, managing director is Menduri Kasper. They replace Ivo Damaso, who had managed the two functions in a personal union.

The members of the Engadin Ski Marathon Association enacted the revision of the statutes adopted last August on Wednesday. The core of the revision is a new association structure with more separation of powers and the opening up of the association's purpose for new events. The previous Executive Board had opposed the audit and resigned at the end of April.

In his latest presidential report, Ivo Damaso drew a positive assessment of the past six implementations. As a result, the number of participants was increased from around 11,000 to over 13,000, and this at a time when other major popular runs are losing significantly in participants. Damaso lamented that the tourist significance of cross-country skiing and the Engadin ski marathon is underestimated in Engadin.

In conclusion, he thanked his colleagues on the Executive Board and OC as well as the employees and wished the new managers courage and strength to keep the Engadin Ski Marathon on its successful course. They would be faced with a difficult task.

The newly elected President Urs Pfister thanked the departing managers and employees. With their commitment in recent months, they are once again fully committed to the Engadin Ski Marathon. The entire handover of the dossiers was characterized by openness and transparent information.

Pfister compared the Engadin ski marathon with a large ship with a crew of over 1,000 people. The ship is on course and making a good trip, said Pfister. In the first phase, the new board wants to focus on continuity and build trust within and outside the organization.

Municipality President Ladina Meyer from Bever and board member Beat Gruber from Celerina thanked the departing board members, OC members and employees for the municipalities and ski clubs as sponsors of the Engadin Ski Marathon. The success of the 2016 implementation was the biggest compliment to the delegates, said Gruber.

Since August, a total of over 130 hours of handover meetings had been held for the central dossiers of the major event. At the end of the association meeting, the previous and the new president signed the handover minutes together.

The new organization under managing director Menduri Kasper starts work next Monday.
