The St. Moritz Hotel La Margna is to be restored and operated as a boutique hotel in the future. The historic hotel building is being completely renovated and supplemented by an annex with a spacious spa and hotel rooms. In order to be able to create the additional areas, the site must be rezoned into a hotel zone. The project will be publicly launched on Thursday — the St. Moritz voters are due to vote on the change to the zoning plan in summer 2015.

The over 100-year-old Hotel La Margna near St. Moritz railway station is being breathed new life. The globally active Grace Hotels acquired the hotel in 2013 and are now planning a complete renovation of the historic building and an extension to include a modern annex.
During the renovation, the historically valuable parts of the building, such as facades, roof shapes and common rooms, are carefully protected and restored. The hotel rooms on the upper floors are being converted and adapted to today's needs in terms of comfort, space requirements, sanitary facilities and safety.
Hotel rooms and suites are also being built in the annex west of the hotel. The total number of rooms remains approximately the same, but the standard of the rooms is significantly improved. A spacious wellness area and an underground car park are also being built in the annex building.
An economic operation requires the conversion and expansion of the hotel and an increase in the usable area from around 5,000 m² to around 8,000 m². This total utilization is only possible if the hotel grounds are rezoned into a hotel zone.
From Thursday, April 9, 2015, the project will be publicly launched as part of the participation process. For 30 days, interested parties have the opportunity to speak to the municipality of St. Moritz. The bill will then be discussed by the municipal council and presented to voters in summer 2015.
The Grace Hotels Group intends to keep Hotel La Margna in the long term and manage it itself. The establishment should be open for up to ten months a year, and three catering establishments are also open to guests from outside the hotel.
Grace Hotels operates twelve so-called boutique hotels in six countries. Each house has a unique architecture and offer, which is specifically tailored to the respective environment.
