Switzerland Tourism presents initiative for health tourism

Switzerland should position itself internationally as a destination for health tourism. With this intention, Switzerland Tourism has announced a marketing initiative in cooperation with leading clinics and health hotels. The initiative will be presented in more detail at the “Health & Tourism” conference.

“The demands of international health guests are very high,” says Letizia Elia, Head of Business Development at Switzerland Tourism. “Switzerland has the expertise in the medical sector and in the hotel industry to meet them.”

At the “Health & Tourism” conference, Letizia Elia will explain the market potential, target markets and Swiss Tourism's approach and give an initial insight into the campaign. A new health initiative in the Upper Engadin, which will also be presented for the first time at the conference, shows that health tourism in the Alpine region is creating space for innovation.

Other topics of the supra-regional conference on health tourism in the Alpine region include the development of health tourism in South Tyrol, a scientific study on the health effects of holidays in Germany, the Nidwalden Cantonal Hospital with its suite concept, the health hotel on the Bürgenstock, the strategy of the globally active VAMED Group in Switzerland and the Davos High Mountain Clinic.

The supraregional conference on health tourism in the Alpine region will take place for the fifth time on Wednesday, September 11. Decision-makers from the hotel, healthcare, tourism and politics industries from all German-speaking Alpine countries and 10 cantons are registered. Speakers from Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Italy include doctors, clinic directors, hosts, tourism professionals, a holiday researcher and the Graubünden Governing Council Marcus Caduff.
