The St. Moritz Hotel La Margna can be comprehensively renovated and expanded. The voters in St. Moritz have accepted the rezoning of the historic hotel into a new hotel zone with a yes share of over 88 percent. Construction is due to start next spring — the hotel is due to reopen at the end of 2017 as part of the Grace Hotels Group.

With 873 in favour against 112 against, the voters of St. Moritz have very clearly approved the rezoning of the hotel area at the train station into a new hotel zone. The rezoning has yet to be approved by the Graubünden government.
The historic hotel, which is closed today, can then be comprehensively renovated, rebuilt and expanded with a new building. The building application is already being prepared and should be submitted in autumn so that construction can begin in spring 2016 at the latest. Due to the preparatory work for the renovation, Hotel La Margna cannot be opened next winter.
From the end of 2017, 60 modern rooms, three restaurants and a spacious spa area will be available to guests of the hotel. Since 2013, Hotel La Margna has been owned by the globally active Grace Hotels Group, which operates boutique hotels on four continents and markets it itself worldwide. The group intends to maintain Hotel La Margna in the long term and to manage it itself.
“We would like to thank the municipal council, and of course the voters for this vote of confidence. The clear yes is a sign of St. Moritz's openness to innovations in the village,” says Constantine Logothetis, whose family owns the Grace Hotels Group. “We're excited to start a new chapter for this popular hotel and introduce a new generation of visitors to the beauty and charm of this unique valley.”
