Two years after retiring from professional sport, Norwegian cross-country skier Therese Johaug is thinking about participating in the 2025 World Championships. She said in an interview that she was considering taking part in the 50-kilometer race. And when she takes part, it's to win.

At the Nordic World Championships in Trondheim (NOR) in one year, the 50 kilometers will also be run by women for the first time. If Johaug were to win the race, it would not only be her 15th world championship title, she would also be the first 50-kilometer world champion in history.
Johaug continued that she had not yet made a final decision about a comeback. If she tackled the 50-kilometer world championship, she said, she would focus solely on this race and the necessary qualifying races. They will definitely not resume a full World Cup program.
On Sunday, the 35-year-old will be running a race again for the first time in two years. In the 17-kilometer Engadin Women's Run, she meets around 1,000 participants and a competitor from previous years: Polish woman Justyna Kowalczyk (40) was one of her big opponents for many years. Both became Olympic champions in Vancouver (2010) and Sochi (2014). While Kowalczyk retired in 2020, Johaug dominated the Beijing 2022 games and won gold three times. After their resignations, both athletes became mothers.
The interview took place on Saturday, March 2, at Skiservice Corvatsch in Silvaplana-Surlej. Therese Johaug was interviewed by media manager for the Engadin Ski Marathon, Christian Gartmann. Christian Gartmann has been Communications and Media Officer for the Engadin Ski Marathon since 2014.
