Future potential of health tourism

Health tourism is regarded as a future opportunity for tourism in Swiss mountain regions. However, information about the actual implementation is scarce. The new “Health and Tourism” conference provides initial orientation. The conference is an initiative by Christian Gartmann.

Foreign and domestic guests who are undergoing medical treatment or working on their health as a preventive measure in Grisons and other mountain cantons are considered to have great future potential for tourism in Graubünden. “However, concrete approaches for implementation are still scarce,” says St. Moritz management consultant Christian Gartmann. With the “Health & Tourism” conference, he wants to provide information on the topic and a classification of options.

On September 7 in Pontresina, doctors, clinic marketers, tourism professionals and hoteliers will provide an overview of treatment areas, target markets and the requirements for tourism and healthcare, and will present specific examples of this. Experts from tourism, medicine and politics will then discuss the requirements, opportunities and potential for health tourism in Grisons.

The “Health & Tourism” conference will take place on Monday, September 7, 2015 at 14:00 at the Pontresina Congress and Cultural Center. Information and registration at www.udir.ch
