Czech Fabian Stocek and Elmerin Malia Elmer won the 8th Engadin night run. Both set a new track record. With clear skies and excellent cross-country skiing conditions, 1,000 participants set off on the route from Sils/Segl to Pontresina for the first time.

A track record was in the air right from the start: The trail specialists from the Engadin municipalities have prepared trails of exceptional quality in recent weeks. The weather, the temperatures and the air made the night running trails faster than ever before.
“The preparation was very good,” said winner Fabian Stošek. Running in the dark was demanding, he said. A mishap happened to him in the Stazerwald: He made a wrong turn and had to walk back a few meters. Yet he managed to remain in a top Siebner group. In the sprint, he beat the Vaudois Arnaud Dupasquier and the German Jakob Milz by just a few seconds.
For women, Malia Elmer repeated her previous year's victory and was the first woman to complete the course in less than 40 minutes. She clearly distanced Carla and Gianna Chiara Wohler. The two Scuol women living in the Bernese Oberland gave themselves nothing; in the end, the twins were only seven tenths of a second apart.
It was much more comfortable further back in the field: For the majority of participants, the Engadin night run is purely a pleasure run, which they do alone or together with friends or family. There was also a particularly prominent visitor from Zurich among the spectators this year: The Böögg of Zurich's Sechseläuten took the opportunity to personally cheer on the 1,000 participants directly on the trail in Silvaplana-Surlej.
