More than 80 businesses, restaurants and hotels in St. Moritz welcome the participating nations to the World Ski Championships: As part of the joint project “St. Moritz Welcomes the World,” the St. Moritz companies decorate shop windows, showcases, shops or bars with the flag of a host nation. Go on a trip around the world through St. Moritz during the World Ski Championships!

During the upcoming FIS Alpine Ski World Championships, Hotel Schweizerhof St. Moritz is taking on a number of special tasks. As the “House of Switzerland”, Schweizerhof hosts Swiss-Ski and its partners, and medal ceremonies and TV broadcasts will take place in the “House of the Fans” right next to the hotel. Since Thursday, Schweizerhof has also been catering for helpers on the mountain; Schweizerhof hotelier Martin Scherer-Urban is responsible for catering for the World Ski Championships.

Four teams with players from seven countries will compete in the St. Moritz Snow Polo World Cup from January 27 to 29, 2017. 12,000 visitors are once again expected to attend the games of the only high-goal polo tournament on snow. The host country is Azerbaijan, the motherland of polo sports. There are also three Swiss players.

The ninth issue of Skiservice Magazine has been published. Impressive reports show Upper Engadin from its most beautiful side — portraits depict world skiing champions, volunteers and romantic mountain lakes. The magazine was entirely designed and produced in Graubünden.

With the opening of Schweizerhof Barstreet, the St. Moritzer Hotel Schweizerhof starts the winter World Cup season. The traditional meeting place for locals and guests features a new bar, the smallest cinema in the Engadin and even more space to meet and chat. The new Schweizerhof Barstreet opens on Saturday, December 3.

The population of Grisons, the St. Gallen Oberland and the Principality of Liechtenstein took possession of their new orthopedic clinic on Saturday. 2,500 people attended the open house at Klinik Gut Fläsch. They had specialist doctors and nursing professionals explain the clinic in detail on a guided tour.

The new Gut Clinic in Fläsch starts operating at the beginning of January. In the most modern orthopedic clinic in Graubünden, a team of specialists and therapists treats residents and guests of the region with musculoskeletal problems. Klinik Gut Fläsch is aimed at patients of all insurance classes. The new building cost around 35 million francs.

Construction on the new Hotel Grace St. Moritz began in September. The former Hotel La Margna on Via Serlas is being extensively renovated and expanded with an annex. The historic structure of the hotel is being carefully restored and is being preserved.

At the “Health & Tourism” conference, experts from five countries called for long-term decisions to be made and also to take risks. Almost 150 participants came to Pontrtesina on Wednesday to learn about the potential of health tourism and its success factors for the Alpine region.

National and international experts in health tourism in the Alpine region will be on stage at the “Health & Tourism” conference in Pontresina on Wednesday. Speakers and case studies from all German-speaking Alpine countries give trade visitors and media an overview of the potential of health tourism in Switzerland. The main topics include the transformation of a holiday region into a health region and successful models of companies in health tourism.

Klinik Gut can play an important role in the Canton of Graubünden's entry into health tourism. Patients in Valposchiavo can visit their regional hospital in Poschiavo for orthopedic consultations and treatments. The Centro Sanitario Valposchiavo -Ospedale San Sisto- and Klinik Gut have agreed on a cooperation under which orthopedists from Klinik Gut will carry out consultations and operations at the San Sisto Hospital in Poschiavo in the future.

Elections Engadin and Olympic triathlon champion Nicola Spirig will defend her title in Rio on Saturday afternoon. At the St. Moritz Hotel Reine Victoria, fans and friends of Spirig meet for a public viewing with a barbecue. Admission is free.

With a double victory, Olympic triathlon champion Nicola Spirig completed her last competition test in St. Moritz before the Olympic Games in Rio extremely successfully. Spirig won first in the duathlon and then in the triathlon superior.

The St. Moritz Triathlon is considered unique: from toddlers to beginners to experienced riders, all ages and levels of strength compete here. Stars such as reigning Olympic Champion Nicola Spirig are also there again and again. For the first time, a duathlon will also be held on Sunday.

Klinik Gut is taking on new corporate management: Finance Director Anke Senne will take over operational management of the private Graubünden hospital group as of December 1. The current CEO, Dr. med. Adrian Urfer, remains delegate of the Board of Directors and continues to push ahead with the project of a new Klinik Gut in St. Moritz.
