The Grisons Dario Cologna won the Engadin Ski Marathon for the third time. In the final spurt, he outstripped Anders Gløersen (NOR) and Ilia Chernousov (RUS). In the women's race, Mari Eide (NOR) won ahead of Rahel Imoberdorf (Münster/VS) and Caitlin Gregg (USA). The race took place in the best external conditions under bright sunshine; with 1:27.46, the winner remained a good three minutes above the record time.

Even Northug and Mari Eide won the heavily staffed Engadin night sprint in St. Moritz. Two days before the Engadin Ski Marathon, the two Norwegians prevailed in exciting final runs on Friday evening. Lichtblick from a Swiss perspective, Davos Alina Meier was in second place among women. Rahel Imoberdorf, Joeri Kindschi and Roman Furger made it to the finals under the clear Engadin evening sky, but had no chance there.

Numerous world-class runners start the 49th Engadin Ski Marathon on Sunday. In addition to the Grisons Dario Cologna, top runners from Norway, France, Russia and Switzerland have registered, and the Frauenfeld is also heavily staffed. The race is on the original route — the approximately 13,000 participants expect good conditions with mild temperatures and weak winds.

Top Swiss cross-country skier Dario Cologna is taking part in the 49th Engadin Ski Marathon. As he did last winter, he refrained from classic races and came to Engadin in return. Dario Cologna won the Engadin Ski Marathon in 2007 and 2010; in 2016, in a promising position, he broke a stick just before the finish line.

The “St. Moritz Welcomes The World” campaign for the St. Moritz World Ski Championships was a great success. Shops, restaurants and hotels displayed the flags of the participating countries at around 100 locations, welcoming the world to St. Moritz. Numerous media from Germany and abroad reported on the campaign, which was co-initiated by Christian Gartmann.

The St. Moritz-Samedan regional airport has opened its satellite-based instrument approach. On Thursday, the first aircraft, which had been guided by Skyguide and the airport via the new procedure, landed safely in Samedan. For now, the procedure will only be available for the duration of the World Ski Championships, after which the experience will be evaluated. Definitive commissioning is planned for winter 2018-2019.

Italian Rommy Gianni's Cartier team won the St. Moritz Snow Polo World Cup 2017. In the final game, the Badrutt's Palace Hotel team defeated by American Melissa Ganzi with Swiss Tito Gaudenzi 7:4. In the small final, the Swiss brothers Fabio and Luca Meier and their team Perrier-Jouët narrowly secured their only victory 4-5 against the Malaysian team Maserati. Around 15,000 viewers over three days represent a record.

Team Badrutt's Palace Hotel and Team Cartier are the winners of the two matches on the second day of the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz 2017. Frosty and clear weather led to excellent conditions. The 5,000 spectators who gathered on the frozen Lake St. Moritz enjoyed two entertaining and hard-fought polo matches in the Engadin sun.

Cartier and Badrutt's Palace Hotel are the first two winners of the 2017 Snow Polo World Cup. Almost three thousand spectators watched two exciting games at temperatures below freezing but bright sun, which ended with clear favorites victories.

The 33rd Snow Polo World Cup on Lake St. Moritz is a piece of real Engadin. Countless local experts and helpers are on duty and a great many locals come to the lake with the international guests. Local produce is used in the VIP tent and an Upper Engadin is also on duty on the playing field. As always, everyone is welcome to the tournament: Admission, including grandstand seats, is traditionally free.

The St. Moritz-Samedan regional airport is getting an instrument approach system for the 2017 World Ski Championships. Thanks to the satellite-based system, approaches through closed cloud cover can be made safely and reliably; an increase in traffic is not expected as a result of the new approach.

Since Monday, the four-star Hotel Reine Victoria in St. Moritz has been converted into the media hotel for the 2017 World Ski Championships. Technicians install almost 500 workstations and the fastest data connections. From February 3 to 20, over 600 media people from all parts of the world will work in house and some will also live there.

More than 80 businesses, restaurants and hotels in St. Moritz welcome the participating nations to the World Ski Championships: As part of the joint project “St. Moritz Welcomes the World,” the St. Moritz companies decorate shop windows, showcases, shops or bars with the flag of a host nation. Go on a trip around the world through St. Moritz during the World Ski Championships!

During the upcoming FIS Alpine Ski World Championships, Hotel Schweizerhof St. Moritz is taking on a number of special tasks. As the “House of Switzerland”, Schweizerhof hosts Swiss-Ski and its partners, and medal ceremonies and TV broadcasts will take place in the “House of the Fans” right next to the hotel.
